The Children, Teenager and Young Adults Cancer Networks (CTYAc ODN) for the East of England is dedicated to ensuring every young person under the age of 25 with a cancer diagnosis receives quality care and holistic support while undergoing treatment for their cancer. This offer of support will include their families and supporters where needed.
Children’s cancer network covers ages 0 - 16, and the TYA cancer network covers ages 16 - 24, up to their 25th birthday.
Our CTYA Networks team consists of:
All of whom collaborate to work towards achieving the networks' aims.
Any child or young person diagnosed with cancer is treated at a specialist hospital. These are referred to as Principal Treatment Centres. There is 1 PTC within the East of England, which is Addenbrookes (Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, CUH).
The PTC leads on specialist care and treatment.
Occasionally patients outside of the East of England will receive care at Addenbrookes as part of their treatment.
The POSCU is a hospital which provides supportive care to patients, families and supporters. This allows children and young people to be treated closer to home, reducing the impact of travel for specific treatment and interventions.
A Designated Hospital is where patients who are aged 19-24 can choose to have their treatment locally, instead of travelling to the Principal Treatment Centre (PTC).
These are hospitals where patients might be seen leading up to diagnosis or attend if they are unwell during treatment.
